Love God with Your Whole Heart

Isaiah 2:2 (NKJV)- “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.”

In all of man’s history, it’s rare for most any organization man has created to last over a hundred years. There have been a few businesses lasting longer than that, some countries have lasted a few hundred years and there could be some others that existed that long; but when you think about God’s Church, it has been around for over 2,000 years! And the church has never had a President, a Parliament, a Constitution, Army or Country….just God and His Word!

These days in which we live, there are a lot of people giving their lives for things they say they believe in. Sadly, many people are investing their lives and their resources into things that, in many cases are actually damaging mankind. I’d venture to say that many of these people don’t even realize what they are actually a part of. Likewise, many Christians give themselves to causes that don’t make a difference for Christ; rather, many of our investments are sitting in a bank or used frivolously or for entertainment purposes while the world around us burns to the ground. Now, I’m not against entertainment and things that bring us together, but if that becomes the focus of our “ministry,” then we’ve lost sight of what Ministry is all about. The calling of Christ is that we “make disciples” of the people we come in contact with. Evangelizing, educating, equipping and making disciples. That is what ministry is all about.

Just as our Savior Ascended into the Heavens after His Resurrection, two men in white apparel scolded Christ’s Disciples, saying, “Why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into Heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” I vividly remember as a lad (I was very “athletically challenged”), I was playing softball with the church team. I was in right field where there wasn’t a lot of action and was told that I’d get backup from the center fielder if a pop fly came my way. Well, a guy at bat hit the ball directly at me! I was watching, by my mind had wandered and I totally missed the fly ball that hit the ground just behind me. When we came in to the dugout at the end of that inning, the coach looked at me and said, “Smith, what were you doing? Looking up in the sky at the bird?” That scenario is a lot like the “lukewarm church” as Christ described the Laodicean Church in our day and age. We are “looking,” but we’re not “watching.” I wonder just how many opportunities to share the Hope of the Gospel we’ve missed because we weren’t watching?

The question for today is this. How much of your time and money do you devote to telling others about the Hope of the Gospel? Many who live in poverty give all they have to let others know about the life-changing encounter they had with Christ; yet so many Americans would rather somebody else do it. I think a lot about the late Larry Burkett and his teachings about Biblical Financial Concepts many years ago. Larry often would say, “The best way to gage how dedicated you are to the Lord is to examine your checkbook. Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Is it time for a checkbook examination? When you do check your checkbook, do you need to say “ouch,” or can you honestly say, “I can do more?” Perhaps a few will admit that you are doing all you can do, but in America these days, it appears this group will be very small.

My wife and I have devoted our lives to building a Christian Radio network for a single purpose. We are called to spread the Hope of the Gospel via means of radio and Internet media. There have been many, many battles; some of them severe, and some of them – we lost. We have been defeated, beaten down to the point of being broke and in despair; yet we refused to quit. During those times, it would have been the easiest thing in the world to quit. But, I couldn’t quit. That’s because I remembered the testimonies from people Joy Christian Radio has touched and encouraged; among those that were considering taking their own lives but didn’t do it because they heard a song or prayer or something on the radio that brought them to tears as they realized that God has a better plan; others who are lonely, in nursing or healthcare facilities, some on hospice at death’s door, some caretakers for the sick and bed-ridden; then there were pastors and church workers who were discouraged, marriages falling apart or have already done so and these people were despondent and ready to quit but decide to let God take charge instead…and the list goes on for literally miles and miles. Going home was not an option.

The Scriptures provide hope for those who live during these last days who wish to rise above the lukewarmness of the church. Jesus said, “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.” We must repent! We must become zealous for Christ! And, we must “buy gold refined in the fire” so that we can be rich and have our eyes opened…..and we should do that NOW. The rest of the world is depending on those who choose to get “hot” for God to bring them the truth of the Gospel. We must determine not to let them down.

Among us is a ministry that is reaching people all over the world with the Hope of the Gospel that is underfunded, often to the point of struggling to pay the power bill. We need people to join us as a sustaining partner so that we can keep our stations on the air and continue to broadcast the Hope of the Gospel to the country and to the world! Will you pray about joining us in supporting this ministry that is making a difference? A ministry that is touching the world with the Hope of the Gospel? We are edifying the body of Christ, encouraging the discouraged and equipping the saint for Christ’s service through our programming and through the various ministries we do outside of radio.
